Bang bang boom! Bring on the Meedan blog badge

Bloggers! Attention!

This is going to be fun.

So you've got your twitter feed and your friendfeed feed and your delicious feed - and they're all pointing at your blog.

Your blog is a hub for all the comments you're making and links you're sharing around the web. Good work.

But if you're interested in what we're interested in, this will only go so far.

That means, if you're blogging about Middle East news, the regional tech scene, the Arabic language or Arab film and culture - you need to show that you know what's going on in Arabic and in English.

This why you'll want the Meedan badge right up there on your blog sidebar.

The badge brings out the best of Meedan.

It's a cross-language badge showing your latest comment and your latest translation in Arabic and in English.

It'll also tell you your total number of translations and comments since joining the Meedan community.

The badge comes with your profile pic and keeps readers of your blog informed of the latest event on Meedan.net.

So how do you set it up?

Once you've registered, simply go over to your My Meedan page and click 'Create a Meedan Badge'.

It'll give you a preview of the badge with some Javascript code.

Just copy the code into your blog page or website.

When the badge is in place, post your latest blog piece onto Meedan.net so speakers from outside your language community can read your work with one click from your blog.

A comment from Anas Qtiesh on this: This is great, just one thing though: Blogs hosted on .wordpress.com domain can't have javascript in the sidebar.. it's a security precaution from Wordpress.. i don't like it and find it limiting and frustrating, but for those of us still on wordpress domain can we get an HTML implementation of the badge? even if it had less features? Cheers, Anas In response, we'll aim to get an html version running very soon.

We are working on updating the design and should have some really cool badges for the second release! Cheers - Chris@meedan
