Welcoming new Meedani Dina El Hawary

As football transfer windows slam shut around Europe and new acquisitions don their new team's colours for the first time, it is with great relish and excitement that Meedan can reveal that we've made THE big signing of the summer: enter Ms Dina El Hawary!

Dina El Hawary will be responsible for managing Meedan's media partnerships in the Middle East as part of the Checkdesk project.

Dina joins Meedan full-time as a Cairo-based Program Manager after her fantastic contribution to the organization of our citizen journalist training programme in Egypt earlier this year, where she oversaw the training of 137 citizen journalists in 6 cities across Egypt.

Prior to joining Meedan, Dina has worked as a Marketing Product Manager for Electrolux Egypt. She also enjoyed an interest in media and maintained a blog showcasing her literary work.  In 2009, she had some of her short stories published and started up her own youth newspaper called "Read".

Dina said of her decision to join Meedan: "For a couple of years, I have been questioning my contribution to the world. I kept promising myself that one day I will forgo the corporate life and pursue a career where I can see a clear social impact. I am glad Meedan gave me this opportunity where I can always say: I work for a Cause :)"

Elsewhere, Dina is a reported chocolate monster and a games addict.  She is known to have bursts of craziness when vying for sweets and use of the family i-pad with her offspring.   But she is most at peace with a book and a cup of coffee.

Welcome to the Meedan team ya Dina!
